Lenovo, one of the world’s leading technology companies, showcased its latest innovations at the Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona, Spain. Among its products were concept designs for laptops and phones that feature rollable screens, which can expand or retract with a push of a button.

The Lenovo Rollable Laptop has a 13.3-inch OLED display that can extend to 17 inches when needed, offering more screen space for multitasking or entertainment. The laptop also has a detachable keyboard and trackpad that can be used wirelessly or attached to the device.

The Lenovo Rollable Phone is a smartphone that can transform into a tablet with a 6.7-inch display that can roll out to 10 inches. The phone also has a flexible hinge that allows it to bend into different shapes and modes.

Lenovo said these concepts demonstrate its vision of creating smarter technology for all and pushing the boundaries of innovation. The company also said it is working with partners and suppliers to make these products commercially available in the future.

Besides the rollable devices, Lenovo also unveiled other products at the MWC 2023, such as:

  • The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga Gen 2, which is claimed to be the thinnest ThinkPad ever with a titanium cover and an 11th Gen Intel Core processor.
  • The Lenovo ThinkReality A3 smart glasses, which are designed for enterprise use cases such as remote assistance, training, and visualization.
  • The Lenovo Tab P12 Pro 5G tablet, which has a 12.6-inch OLED display with Dolby Vision and Atmos support, a Snapdragon 888 processor, and an optional keyboard and stylus.
  • The Motorola Defy Satellite Link smartphone, which has satellite connectivity for emergency situations where cellular networks are unavailable.

Lenovo was not the only company to showcase rollable screens at the MWC 2023. Its subsidiary Motorola also revealed its own concept for a rollable phone called Moto RAZR Roll Edition, which is inspired by its iconic flip phone design.

Other highlights from the MWC 2023 included:

  • OnePlus Pad, a gaming tablet with an AMOLED display, dual speakers, and haptic feedback.
  • Xiaomi Smart Glasses, an augmented reality device that can display notifications, navigation directions, translations, and more on its lenses.
  • Honor Magic5, a flagship smartphone with an under-display camera and fast charging capabilities.

The MWC 2023 was held from February 28 to March 4 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona. It was one of the first major tech events to resume after being canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to its organizers, more than 40 thousand people attended the event physically or virtually this year.
